Cancellation Policy

 Cancel on or before October 22, 2022, to receive a full
refund, minus a 10% processing fee, to your original payment method. After

Julie has over 25 years’ experience in emergency transport medicine, both flight and ground. Her expertise is in the area of pediatric and neonatal transport and critical care. As program manager and chief flight nurse at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital LifeLine in St. Petersburg, FL, she manages both a high acuity national/international transport team as well as the transfer and dispatch center.

Ms. Bacon holds multiple clinical and leadership certifications. She is an active participant in state disaster planning and management, and as a former hospital emergency management director, is a resource and instructor for hospital emergency preparation for disaster and terrorism. She currently serves as the clinical chair for the Florida EMS for Children State Advisory Committee, vice chair of the Florida State EMS Strategic Planning Committee and is an invited participant representing neonatal/maternal and pediatric issues on multiple state committees.

In addition to clinical topics in pediatric/neonatal critical care and transport medicine, she also lectures nationally and internationally on all areas of teamwork and staff resource management, prioritizing life in a high-stress environment and motivational issues.

Dr. Michael D. Gooch is board certified as an acute care, family and emergency nurse practitioner. He is also board certified as an emergency, flight, transport and trauma nurse. He has over 25 years of emergency and transport medicine experience. He obtained his MSN from Vanderbilt University and his DNP from Loyola University in Chicago. He is an Assistant Professor of Nursing with Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, as well as a faculty member  with the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. At Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he practices as a flight and emergency nurse practitioner. He has completed over 1,600 patient transports during his tenure with Vanderbilt’s LifeFlight Transport Program. He is also employed with TeamHealth and practices as an emergency nurse practitioner in a community emergency department.

Michael is actively involved in advancing ENP practice. He is a founding member of the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners and serves as the Southeastern regional director. He also serves as an APRN liaison to the board of directors for the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association and is a past member of the Emergency Nurses Association Advanced Practice Advisory Council.

He is a nationally recognized speaker and a published author on varied emergency and transport medicine topics. Michael serves as a column editor for the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal. His clinical interests include transport medicine, airway management, toxicology and pharmacology.

Dr. Klacman currently resides in Dallas-Ft. Worth. She is an assistant tenure-track professor at Texas Woman’s University-Dallas in the Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell College of Nursing, where she teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. She is the former system education specialist of critical care for Texas Health Resources, a large healthcare system across DFW. She is an experienced critical care nurse and practiced at the bedside for eight years prior to moving into education. She was the first person globally to implement the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)™ Program at an organization during her time as the American Heart Coordinator/Life Support educator. Her interests include best practices in resuscitation education, care of critically ill cardiac patients and basic/advanced ECG interpretation.

Dr. Klacman has been with MED-ED since 2016 and teaches a variety of cardiac and critical care courses. She has been a presenter at multiple local, state, national and international conferences. She has been a reviewer for AACN’s Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) modules related to pulmonary and cardiac disorders. Alex obtained her research doctorate in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where she studied outcomes from the RQI Program. Her research interest focuses on CPR quality in morbidly obese patients. She currently works PRN in the CVICU at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-Dallas and is an acute care nurse practitioner student at UTA. She has been honored as a Great 100 Nurse of DFW and as a winner of the D Magazine Excellence in Nursing Award.

Kristen’s professional experience includes working as an RN for nearly 25 years in the pediatrics, medical-surgical, telemetry, intensive and coronary care areas. She has served as a nurse educator for her entire career, currently works as a full-time cardiac nurse practitioner and has also been a collegiate adjunct professor. Kristen is currently triple certified with critical care clinical certifications, along with her nurse practitioner license, and prides herself in working with critical care and progressive care nurses at the bedside and sitting for those certification exams every 3 years.

Her entrepreneurial lectures on various evidence-based subject matters focus on a variety of topics, but mostly on the current guidelines and evidence for bedside nurses. She has been published three times on evidence-based improvement projects and was the lead writer for her unit’s Beacon Award, received four times from AACN. Kristen has spoken at the national level on targeted temperature management and on analyzing the laboratory data on infection.

Nancy Bonalumi has an extensive career as a nurse leader, educator and consultant. She is an in-demand lecturer with years of presenting to diverse audiences on topics ranging from clinical care to leadership, who has also been published extensively. Nancy has worked in emergency care environments ranging from small rural hospitals to large urban medical centers. In any setting, she is viewed as an engaging, thoughtful leader. She calls upon her cumulative experiences to bring fresh insights to her clients. Michael began his medical professional career in 1987 after graduating with a degree in respiratory care. He began working in North Carolina for a large healthcare system and was assigned to various intensive care units, where he managed ventilators, assisted with hemodynamic monitoring and provided respiratory therapy to clients in the adult and neonatal intensive care units. Later, he obtained a degree in Nursing and transitioned to a nursing role where he often worked in the dual role of respiratory care practitioner and registered nurse. He worked in various departments, such as cardiac catheterization, interventional lab, electrophysiology lab and ground transport team, and eventually was a team leader for the hospital-based rapid response team.

His work experience ranges from being a critical care nurse, flight and ground transport nurse and post-anesthesia care nurse. Currently, he practices in a free-standing emergency department. Along with being a bedside nurse, Michael is often involved in education for his own department, as well as other departments hospital-wide. Michael precepts new nurses and senior nursing students and often assists his hospital’s staff education department in providing ACLS and PALS classes, along with lectures for the critical care nursing staff.

Michael has presented numerous local and national podium presentations. He has presented several lectures on a national level from major nursing conferences as well as presenting at the International ANCC Magnet Conference. He has received several awards for his work and education. He is also a two-time recipient in nurse excellence from his healthcare system and received the North Carolina Great 100 Nurse award for outstanding practice.


Jeff Solheim, MSN, RN, CEN, TCRN, CFRN, FAEN, FAAN's Profile

Jeff brings with him a wealth of nursing background, including clinical nursing in medical-surgical and emergency medicine, cruise-ship nursing, flight nursing, nursing management and administration, and as a state surveyor and nursing educator. Jeff is a well-known motivational and clinical speaker as well as an author. He has written more than 30 books, contributed to dozens more and has served as editor for numerous publications. Jeff, who is a Fellow in both the Academy of Emergency Nursing (AEN) and the American Academy of Nursing, served as president of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) in 2018 and as president of the Nursing Organizations Alliance in 2019 and 2020.

Aside from his work in the nursing field, Jeff founded the humanitarian organization Project Helping Hands, which deployed medical teams around the world. He has personally visited over 15 countries and led over 50 teams through his organization. He currently serves as the president of Solheim Enterprises while working part time in an intensive care unit in Portland OR. Jeff is the proud father of Brandon and is an equally proud grandparent of his grandson, Rylee. He combines his sense of humor with stories from his travels around the world to make each seminar a fun and unforgettable experience

Course Overview:

The Nurse Executive Exam Cram (Basic) is designed to provide an overview of those subjects that are included in the ANCC certification exam. Subjects covered include: professional practice, with focus on nursing theory, research, quality improvement, process improvement, change theory and ethics. Healthcare economics is reviewed, as well as the healthcare environment. Lastly, delivery of care including: regulatory, process outcome, Magnet recognition, benchmarking, charts and graphs are described. The course is a fast-paced, intense presentation, and review of the exam blueprint along with preliminary study is recommended prior to attending. After attending, participants are encouraged to create a study plan individualized to meet their needs to successfully pass this exam.

Traumatic injuries can be anticipated by understanding the mechanism of injury the patient experienced. This session will review various mechanisms of injury and the types of injuries that result from those mechanisms. Mechanisms of injury to be covered will include frontal crashes, side-impact crashes, rear-end crashes, rollover incidents, vehicle ejection, bicycle crashes, motorcycle crashes, auto-vs.-pedestrian incidents and falls. The session includes numerous videos in which participants can visualize various mechanisms of injury. This session is designed for all healthcare workers who care for traumatically injured patients.
